OOTD 30/05/2014

I have been loving the sports luxe and 90's boho trend that has been kicking around of late. So I though I would dip my foot into both with this lil ootd. I took this outfit on an adventure around Brisbane city and it provided me with just the right amount of comfort I was looking for. So that proves the theory that on the odd occasion (for me anyway) you can be fashionably comfortable.

Sup're midi dress (similar), thrifted blouse (tied around waste), DIY choker, Big W trainers, thrifted brown leather backpack.

Just a side note. I made this ribbon choker with a Saint Christopher pendant on it and I could make more for a low price if anyone is interested. Leave a comment down below if you would fancy one and the price range you would think is expectable.

Boyirl

I have always been an advocate for the boyish side of things. Probably due to the fact that I 1. I grew up trying to mimic my two older brothers and 2. Men's clothing is so comfortable and if i am not comfortable im not happy. So I bet you can imagine when I saw sneakers, culottes, sliders and suits flourish this season I was over the moon. However I still like to add a dab of girly to my outfit, after all I am a girl. You don’t have to go one way or another you can always be a bit of a by stander when it comes to bruiting or girlying up.

Pair a nice dress statement dress with some brogues and add some hitched up typically boy looking socks to give that boyesk vibe. Shuv on a well cut crop top and trousers made out of stiffer heavier fabric or pinned striped print, tie a suit jacket around your waist and add some sliders! Bam you will hit right smack bang in the middle. However if you are daring enough and want to turn up the boy, pair a plain slouchy knit with some long tailored culottes, your favourite trainers and a nice little over the shoulder channel esk bag and you have boyirl (emphasis on the boy part).

In the end its all about the “tude” and how you wear it. If you are struggling to find your inner boy maybe its not for you or maybe you just need to dig a little deeper. Be true to yourself, there is no point in being someone you arent just for the sake of fashion. So before you tackle this trend think about what you want first.

Once a nomad forever a nomad.

I have been hit with a bad case of bohemian/ nomadic vibes, but don't get me wrong its not a bad thing its just a trend I thought I would never cling onto. I think this sudden change in style is down to the fact that I go through phases of idolising one particular person or a group of people and express my fondness for them through clothing. Some people's idols inspire them to make the world a better place but mine just inspire me to dress differently. Ehh? what is a girl to do.  I think my take on bohemian is more of a Vanessa Hudgens, Olsen sisters, early 70's Mick Jagger hybrid. I like to think I add a sophisticated edge. Plus these Asos sliders have made me go a bit hippy chic.

Thrifted cami, Wrangler Jeans, Thrifted denim jacket, Asos sliders, Magnolia  necklace,                                Ebay choker

All in all this trend has a big tick of approval from me.
