Stomp it!

Platform boots - Asos, Plaid slip dress - Sportsgirl, Midi rings - Lovisa, Ribbon necklace - own project.

I recently purchased these Asos platform combat boots and have, as usual, fallen in love with another materialistic item! If you are unsure about purchasing some platform boots that are a bit pricey or just a little out there, I'd say do it anyway! Not only are they super comfortable but they are a great way to add some omph to a basic outfit. They are also a very versatile shoe because they can take you from day to night to casual to dressy.
All in all the perfect Autumn/Winter buy!

Until next time internet friends! Isabel xo.

Street Style Files: London Fashion Week AW14

This week gone was a big one for many fashionistas in London. London Fashion Week defiantly stood up to the plate and displayed its fair share of street style . I noticed heaps of people were going for the boy chic look, a lot of playing with different textures and stand alone statement pieces. Colour wise it was all very dull everyday browns, navy blues, greys, khaki, black pared with oil slick silvers, bright oranges, dark reds and a lot of monochrome.

What I would wear:

"So who is Isabel when she’s at home?"

I recently realised I haven’t properly introduced myself to the blogger world, and what better occasion than now while my blog is still fresh and new.

I might as well start off with the basics, I am 17 year old Brisbane girl, I have recently completed high school and i am unsure of what to do with my life career wise. My father is Sicilian and my mother is Australian making me half Australian half Sicilian. I am the youngest sibling, baring me the title of the little annoying sister (what I have been labelled by my brothers).

Ever since I was young girl I always felt as though I had a knack for fashion. I like to think of myself as a fashion rebel because I have always dressed differently to those around me. I come from a conservative family where they have always expected the girls to dress to a certain modest standard. But I don’t necessarily dress to their standards and this is probably why I find fashion so appealing because it is a way to show my true personality (cheeky maybe?). You have to have guts to wear something that doesn’t fit in with the status-quo which is a quality I really admire.

I am inspired mostly by celebrities, bloggers or people I see on the street. I would say my style is reminiscent of different eras, playful and mostly laid back.

Other than fashion I play the guitar and LOVE music, I have been told I have the travel bug and I love being creative wether it is painting a cupboard to re-vamping old clothing to drawing or photography. And I hope to eventually get a job that incorporates one or more of these interests. I am also an avid shopper and op shopper, however a very stingy one.

I have found confidence through clothing and fashion and I hope to help others find their own.

So internet this is me boiled down to 336 words. Eat your heart out!

Do what you fear most and you control your own fear.

The moment I saw this slip dress hanging on the SALES rack in Topshop I had to have it. There is only one small problem with it. I think I look absolutely absurd in a long dress due to the fact that I am only 160 cm's tall. I have always thought maxi and midi dresses where not made for people with my height and body shape. I have always watched from the sidelines when it comes to any item of clothing longer than the knee. However, if I ever did wear anything longer than the knee it would HAVE to be this slip midi dress. The way the hem delicately flares out with this 90's slip dress also gives me a deeper love for this materialistic item.  Obviously I bought the dress and I actually wore it out in public and conquered my fear. In the end I just didn't really care about what others thought because I felt happy in what I was in and that's all that matters.                                  Plus the sidelines where so boring I am more of a team player ;).

Topshop slip midi dress,  Sportsgirl sandals, Ebay choker, Thrifted bag.

So I encourage whoever is reading this to try and step out of their comfort zones. When you choose your next outfit go for that skirt that makes your bum look like an air balloon or that top that is a little bit too low for your liking. People may judge you but who cares, you will probably never see them again and as long as you feel great you will most probably look great. Unless you're wearing underpants over your trousers that's just plain odd!

Street Style Files: Alexa Chung

Alexa Chung

I find that Alexa dresses her best when the paparazzi snap her on her day off, with friends, hanging around the streets of some glamorous capital city  because she is actually being her true self. She puts a modern  twist on dated looks and is not afraid to look more like a boy than a girl. Alexa's street style is truly her own and is so hard to replicate. No wonder she has been pinned as an IT girl, it's so hard to be her!

How to (almost) achieve the Alexa street style:

- Focus on one bold print and tone down every other clothing item.

- Let your outfit suggest you are 'one of the boys'.

-  Look comfortable. (Hint: dress comfortably and you will look comfortable)

- Add some rings.

- Play with different textures.

- Dress for yourself and not for others. Show who really are.

My interpretation :

Boohoo eye print blouse, Topshop denim shorts, Topshop velvet boots, Cambridge satchel bag, River Island sunglasses, Forever 21 midi rings.

“What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps
me in a continual state of inelegance”
- Jane Austin.

The weekend just past was a hot one and it's so hard to try and dress nicely when it's a million degrees outside. I just want to walk around in my swimmers all day! However, if I have to look half decent there are ways to keep cool. I always go for lighter weight fabrics with a busy pattern that breathes easily, minimal blingy jewellery, heeled sandals and a cute ladylike bag. You can also take this outfit from day to night just by popping some heels on and putting on an out there shade of lipstick.

Crop top, gingham skirt, brown purse - Thrifted, Betts sandals, Lovisa Necklace.

I took this outfit to the city and it ticked all of the boxes. Isabel 1 hot summer day 0!
